STUDENT BOARD MEMBER - Texas Tech University
Voshita Parvathaneni is a sophomore at Texas Tech University pursuing a B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Health Professions, as well as a B.G.S. in General Studies with concentrations in Biology, Health Professions, and Political Science. She is a member of the Health Policy, Symposium, and Mental Health working groups within Think Tank. Voshita was inspired to join after spending her summers in her grandfather’s small village, where she witnessed firsthand the barriers people face in accessing healthcare and the toll these challenges take on quality of life. His struggles, along with those of many others in underserved areas, opened her eyes to healthcare disparities in rural communities, particularly those with doctor shortages and hospital closures, as seen across Texas. Through Think Tank, she hopes to take the first step toward collaborating with healthcare providers, policymakers, and community leaders to improve systems so that every individual can receive the care they deserve.
Voshita’s academic achievements include earning the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, being recognized as a Top First-Year Student by Texas Tech University’s Mortar Board, making the President’s Honor List, and securing early acceptance into the TTUHSC School of Medicine through the Undergraduate to Medical School Initiative (UMSI) in the TTU Honors College. Her extracurricular involvement spans leadership and service, including roles as an Undergraduate Researcher in both the TTU College of Engineering and College of Education, a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Genetics, an Honors College Ambassador, a College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador, a Student Involvement Ambassador, and a Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences in TTU’s Student Government Association. These roles reflect her commitment to scholarship, service, and advancing health equity in underserved communities.
