MENTORSHIP WORKING GROUP LEAD - Texas Tech University
Zane Billings is a junior at Texas Tech University majoring in Honors Sciences & the Humanities with minors in Chemistry and Spanish. He serves as the Mentorship Working Group Lead within Think Tank and is also a member of the Community Outreach and Mentorship working groups. Zane joined Think Tank to become a stronger advocate for public health in West Texas. He is motivated by the stark healthcare disparities in rural communities across the region and sees Think Tank as an opportunity to serve as a leader in addressing these challenges.
Zane’s academic achievements include being selected for the Undergraduate to Medical School Initiative (UMSI), which granted him early acceptance into the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine with a waived MCAT requirement. Beyond Think Tank, he is actively engaged as a Lead Ambassador for the Honors College at Texas Tech, a volunteer at the TTU Therapeutic Riding Center, and an Undergraduate Research Scholar with faculty at the TTUHSC School of Population and Public Health, where he studies causes of clinical staff turnover at Federally Qualified Health Centers in the TTUHSC service region. These experiences highlight his commitment to service, scholarship, and advancing health equity in underserved communities.
